Once again... October 9 2025 marks the anniversary of the fall in combat of Ernesto Che Guevara, freedom fighter and legendary guerilla born: June 14, 1928, Rosario, Argentina.

His father Ernest Guevara Lynch said "The first thing to note is that in my son's veins flowed the blood of the Irish rebels", he said in a 1969 interview. He went on: "Che inherited some of the features of our restless ancestors. There was something in his nature which drew him to distant wandering, dangerous adventures and new ideas".



As an Irishman I must again reiterate my immense pride in the fact that Che Guevara has family connections with Ireland.

Ireland imports circa €3 billion plus from Israel - this is simply not good enough, writing to a supermarket or company is a waste of time, what is needed is in-company protest or at their point of sale, noise is not condusive to harmonious retail. 

It just takes one person to do a little and therein we could each create a ripple.

• complain to the checkout people
• complain to any single person working for the entity
• load as much as possible into a trolley, leave it in a corner - after you noticed you did not bring your wallet / purse / credit card

The Israeli agricultural companies Mehadrin (Jaffa) and Carmel-Agrexco export fruit and vegetables for sale to Europe. Much of this produce is grown on confiscated Palestinian land in the Jordan Valley. The audio plugin development company Waves is a joint US-Israeli venture.

The ancestry research and DNA testing website MyHeritage.com is headquartered in Tel Aviv.

Although officially headquatered in New York, Connecteam is an employee management app based in Israel.

The controversial online marketplace Fiverr is headquartered in Tel Aviv, while its Corporate Office is based in the Israeli Embassy in Washington DC.

Complicit Companies

HP Hewlett-Packard, although not an Israeli company, is boycottable due to the company’s deep role in helping entrench the occupation of Palestine and associated human rights abuses.

Similarly, while also not an Israeli company, Motorola Solutions (not Motorola Mobility, which is a separate company) is boycottable as it provides surveillance in Israeli illegal colonial settlements, profiting from this violation of the Geneva Conventions.

Siemens is another complicit multinational company that is building the EuroAsia Interconnector, a subsea cable that will link Israel’s electricity grid with Europe’s, allowing illegal settlements on stolen Palestinian land to benefit from Israel-EU trade of electricity.

"Formerly they were not numbered in any civil lists of their country, except in those of the poor; here they rank as citizens. By what invisible power has this surprising metamorphosis been performed? By that of the laws and that of their industry. The laws, the indulgent laws, protect them as they arrive, stamping on them the symbol of adoption; they receive ample rewards for their labours; these accumulated rewards procure them lands; those lands confer on them the title of freemen, and to that title every benefit is affixed which men can possibly require. This is the great operation daily performed by our laws.

I could point out to you a family whose grandfather was an Englishman, whose wife was Dutch, whose son married a French woman, and whose present four sons have now four wives of different nations. He is an American, who leaving behind him all his ancient prejudices and manners, receives new ones from the new mode of life he has embraced, the new government he obeys, and the new rank he holds.

He becomes an American by being received in the broad lap of our great Alma Mater. Here individuals of all nations are melted into a new race of men, whose labours and posterity will one day cause great changes in the world. Americans are the western pilgrims, who are carrying along with them that great mass of arts, sciences, vigour, and industry which began long since in the east; they will finish the great circle. The Americans were once scattered all over Europe; here they are incorporated into one of the finest systems of population which has ever appeared, and which will hereafter become distinct by the power of the different climates they inhabit. The American ought therefore to love this country much better than that wherein either he or his forefathers were born.

Here the rewards of his industry follow with equal steps the progress of his labour; his labour is founded on the basis of nature, self-interest; can it want a stronger allurement? IHEU reads poem banned in Saudi for ‘apostasy’ to delegates at UN

The ongoing case of Palestinian poet, Ashraf Fayadh, who is currently imprisoned in Saudi Arabia.

The latest in a series of trials and results has seen the sentence commuted from beheading to eight years imprisonment with 800 lashes for ‘apostasy’. The charges include “spreading atheism” and insulting “the divine self”.

On Thursday 23/06/2016 at the United Nations, the International Humanist and Ethical Union’s (IHEU) director of advocacy, Elizabeth O’Casey, read out a poem that is banned in Saudi Arabia on the grounds of ‘apostasy.’ The poem was delivered in front of the delegation from Saudi Arabia and the rest of the Human Rights Council.

Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel Gathers Pace

The BDS Movement continues to grow globally with important events this month at home and abroad:-

Many of Ireland’s best-known musicians, writers, artists and sports stars have called on the Irish Government to join them in supporting the growing worldwide boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel.

The statement, in an open letter published in the Irish Times and Irish Independent, has been welcomed by Palestinian and Irish human rights campaigners. The full text of the letter is published for the record:-

Boycott of Israel is a legitimate response to regime's apartheid

We, the undersigned, welcome the recent statement in the Dáil by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Charles Flanagan, that the strategy of boycott, divestment and sanction (BDS) aimed at pressurising Israel into ending the occupation is a legitimate political viewpoint.

It is also heartening that Minister Flanagan outlines the Government's support for Israeli and Palestinian NGOs which are active on justice and human rights issues.
However, given this expression of support, it is both disappointing and confusing that when those same civil society organisations call on the international community to campaign for BDS as a means of showing solidarity with Palestinians living under occupation, the Irish Government refuses to support them or the campaign.

The BDS movement is a Palestinian civil-society-led global movement of citizens that carries out and advocates for non-violent campaigns of BDS as a means to overcome the Israeli regime of occupation, settler-colonialism and apartheid and achieve freedom, justice and equality for the Palestinian people.
The reasons to support BDS are systematically documented by organisations like Amnesty International, Defense for Children International, the United Nations and others, which describe extrajudicial killings, imprisonment of children, destruction of people's homes and livelihoods, theft of Palestinian lands and daily intimidation with tear gas and bullets.

It is for these and many other reasons that we call for: a boycott of Israeli products and services, business divestments from the occupation economy and governmental sanctions on the Israeli state.

In the US the largest gathering of UUs in the country just voted on whether to endorse the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA)’s recent divestment from companies complicit in the Israeli occupation. On the wider front US Ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro recently expressed the US government's opposition to boycotts of Israel. The ambassador quoted President Obama, who said in February, 

“I have directed my administration to strongly oppose boycotts, divestment campaigns, and sanctions targeting the State of Israel. As long as I am President, we will continue to do so.”

One wonders how this position can be reconciled with the American constitution.? 

Boycott is a legitimate initiative by Palestinian civil society leaders responding to decades of human rights abuses.

It is somewhat encouraging that Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Deputy Charles Flanagan, made a comment in support of the rights of the individual during the recent Debate on Human Rights Issues. Failure to renew travel documents is an effective travel ban imposed on Omar Barghouti, one of the founders of the Palestinian movement for boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS).

Minister Flanagan had the following to say:-

"The person in question is a leading advocate of the movement for boycott, divestment and sanctions, BDS, against Israel, which is intended to pressure Israel into ending the occupation. While the Government does not itself support such a policy, it is a legitimate political viewpoint, albeit one regarded in Israel as deeply hostile."

..in Islam (Arabic: ردة‎ riddah or ارتداد irtidād) is commonly defined as the conscious abandonment of Islam by a Muslim in word or through deed.

Islam really does need to get its act together and drag itself into this century or at the very least stop killing people for such a flimsy thing called belief / faith

..imagine if the catholic church started to do the same here... and they did to an extent with ostracisation / denunciation - thankfully 'The Struggle' helped break the back of their power.. particularly here in the north..

Stop the Arrest of Children

17 December 2014, Two 10-year-old Palestinian boys were arrested for allegedly throwing stones. Mohammed Nabil Taha and Akram Zayed Al-Jamal were visibly shaking and crying while the Israeli border police held them in custody for thirty minutes at Qitoun checkpoint 209 in Hebron. 

According to ADDAMEER*  there 182 children being held  (19 under 16)
